narissa r. griffin, ph.d.

Dr. Narissa R. Griffin earned her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology through The University of Tulsa in 2010. Prior to graduation, she chose to seek specialized training in the evaluation and treatment of youth at The University of Oklahoma Health Science Center Child Study Center (OUHSC). There, Dr. Griffin gained experience in the assessment of young children with prenatal drug and alcohol exposure, as well as in the treatment of children with disruptive behavior problems, trauma histories, and sexual behavior problems. It was at OUHSC that Dr. Griffin obtained her initial training in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). 


Dr. Griffin then traveled to Memphis to complete her Pre-Doctoral Internship at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) Boling Center for Developmental Disabilities. At UTHSC, she received training in the assessment and treatment of children with Developmental Disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disability, including specialized experience in administration of the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) and implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques. Furthermore, Dr. Griffin received additional training in implementing and supervising the treatment of children with disruptive behavior problems via Parent-Child Interaction Therapy. She also provided treatment to children and adolescents with a wide range of presenting issues through her experiences in the UTHSC Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic, the Exchange Club Family Center, and Memphis City Schools. 


Following graduation, Dr. Griffin completed her Post-Doctoral Internship at The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Schmieding Developmental Center in Lowell and Child Study Center on the Arkansas Children’s Hospital campus. There, Dr. Griffin greatly expanded her experience in the specialized assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of children with Developmental Disabilities. Following her training, Dr. Griffin accepted a position at the UAMS Schmieding Developmental Center as a Behavioral Psychologist and Assistant Professor within the Department of Pediatrics. She enjoyed serving children and families in this capacity for an additional four years, during which she continued to develop her areas of specialty including diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents with Developmental Disabilities, disruptive behavior problems, toileting difficulties, and sleep problems. She is a Certified Parent Child Interaction Therapy provider and Level 1 Trainer.  Dr. Griffin is originally from Mountainburg, Arkansas, and she is excited to finally be back home in the River Valley.

Dr. Griffin specializes in the evaluation and diagnosis of children ages 5 and under.  *Testing for Autism Spectrum Disorder can be performed on children as young as 18 months.
